Morning Milk

Despite being incredibly low on dough right now, I went ahead anyway and purchased food for the week. So now I'm down to less than $30. Can't wait for Friday when I get paid. I bought the usual items, potato salad, meat, rice, some fruits, and I also decided to try out Lactaid.

Yesterday morning, I drank a supplemental drink called "Boost", which contains almost 400 calories in a little bottle, so I figured I could check it out to see if it was a good weight gainer. Nope. One little bottle gave me as much diarrhea as a bowl of milk (2 cups). So that evening, when I went to go get food I bought Lactaid brand milk to test it out. Had about 4 cups of it for dinner, and it was fine. No gas. No diarrhea. Stomach was silent. I tried it again for breakfast this morning, had about a cup and a half, and although I did not experience the same immediate feelings of gas and stomach gurgling, after drinking the last cup I did start to get a few chills like I would normally get with regular milk, and eventually had to go to the toilet and again experienced diarrhea. I have no idea what it is. Is it really lactose intolerance or just that my stomach can't handle food very well that early in the morning?

Meals

Okay, so I've finally devised a workable meal plan to start me off:

Meal 1 -
  • 4 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter (380 calories)
  • 2 Cups of Whole Milk (300 calories)
  • 1 Cup of Granola (420 calories)

Meal 2 -
  • 2 Cups of Brown Rice (400 calories)
Meal 3 -
  • 3 Beef Patties (1,050 calories)

Meal 4 -
  • 2 Cups of Potato Salad (920 calories)

Meal 5 -
  • 1 Mango (130 calories)

TOTAL: 3,600 Calories

Right now, I'm trying to consume liquids, namely water, minimally while I eat because I get full faster if I drink something. I know this isn't really good to do, especially since I don't drink much water to begin with. I'll try to get in a few more cups, but like I said, I think I'll start off by focusing on the food and not liquids! I might make revisions to this if I find any foods I'd like to add, or replace. I'll keep you posted!

I Need More Z's

I thought it would be easy to get up this morning after going to bed at midnight. Apparently, I need more than six or even seven hours of sleep! I heard my alarm go off at 10 minutes to 6. "Ugh!" *smack!* *snore*

Yup, not pretty. I didn't have a great start yesterday, either. I'm including two cups of milk in my diet, which is a lot more than I'd ever drink in the morning. I usually will have a few sips, and that's it. However, yesterday, after drinking the milk along with granola, my stomach started to feel just awful and making equally awful gurgling noises. A half hour later I literally had to run to the bathroom because I couldn't hold it in! Very BAD start! I'm starting to think that I'm becoming lactose intolerant. The issue is that this seems to only happen when I drink milk in the morning. It could be that it's just a morning thing, because my stomach has been empty for hours. I'm going to test myself this week (once I get my paycheck and am able to go buy more milk). I'm going to try buying Lactaid milk and see how that goes.

Then, later in the day, I started to eat some of the other food I had packed for myself. I still don't know if it was because of the milk in the morning, but I just couldn't finish all my food. My stomach kept hurting, and I kept getting gas and cramps throughout the day. I ended up not eating everything I was supposed to, on top of going to bed late. So today, I'm going to have to make it up. Won't be going to bed early tonight, though. Biggest Loser is on tonight!
