You're Not Doing Me Any Favors...

...when you try to compliment me by telling me that I've probably only had a glass of water all day.

... when you pull me aside to ask me, with the most serious tone of voice I've ever heard, if I'm anorexic.

... when I tell you I don't look good in bathing suits, and you say it's nonsense, then see me in a bathing suit and bombard me with "OMG you're sooooooo skinny!!!"

Okay?! lol It's getting on my nerves. I don't know why people respond with such perplexity and offense when I tell them I want to gain weight. I guess the majority of people will always associate "weight" with "fat". Weight is pretty much everything that is contained within your epidermis, everything that is attached to your epidermis (hair and stuff), and the epidermis itself. So, I can easily lose two pounds in the morning by taking a morning dump! It doesn't mean I lost two pounds of FAT!

When you call me "anorexic/skinny" with a less than pleased face, I imagine this:

I don't know how you could be proud to look like that. There's a thing as being too fat, and there's a thing as being too skinny. I'm sure people who fall under the "too fat" category are not pleased if people start coming up to them accusing them of being binge eaters. Just wish people would shut their mouths. I'm working on myself already, but unfortunately it wouldn't be professional to blurt that out to every customer who came in to comment about my body. If only I could comment about theirs...

"OMG your face is so wrinkled!"
"OMG your breathe stinks!"

=P Ugh, sometimes I hate people, but these are the types that are keeping me motivated!!! :)

The 10-8-6-15 Program

This is an exercise routine that I found that is said to work well amongst ectomorphs.

The 10-8-6-15 Program

If you're ectomorph or a beginner, then follow this workout 3 times per week. For each exercise perform 4 sets with a rep scheme of 10-8-6-15. Rest 3 minutes between sets.
  • Squats
  • Bench Press
  • V-Bar Pulldown
  • Lateral Raise
  • Dumbbell Curls
  • Close-Grip Bench Press

That's it, nothing fancy. For ectomorphs, simplicity and consistency are the way to go.

Meals

Okay, so I've finally devised a workable meal plan to start me off:

Meal 1 -
  • 4 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter (380 calories)
  • 2 Cups of Whole Milk (300 calories)
  • 1 Cup of Granola (420 calories)

Meal 2 -
  • 2 Cups of Brown Rice (400 calories)
Meal 3 -
  • 3 Beef Patties (1,050 calories)

Meal 4 -
  • 2 Cups of Potato Salad (920 calories)

Meal 5 -
  • 1 Mango (130 calories)

TOTAL: 3,600 Calories

Right now, I'm trying to consume liquids, namely water, minimally while I eat because I get full faster if I drink something. I know this isn't really good to do, especially since I don't drink much water to begin with. I'll try to get in a few more cups, but like I said, I think I'll start off by focusing on the food and not liquids! I might make revisions to this if I find any foods I'd like to add, or replace. I'll keep you posted!

I Need More Z's

I thought it would be easy to get up this morning after going to bed at midnight. Apparently, I need more than six or even seven hours of sleep! I heard my alarm go off at 10 minutes to 6. "Ugh!" *smack!* *snore*

Yup, not pretty. I didn't have a great start yesterday, either. I'm including two cups of milk in my diet, which is a lot more than I'd ever drink in the morning. I usually will have a few sips, and that's it. However, yesterday, after drinking the milk along with granola, my stomach started to feel just awful and making equally awful gurgling noises. A half hour later I literally had to run to the bathroom because I couldn't hold it in! Very BAD start! I'm starting to think that I'm becoming lactose intolerant. The issue is that this seems to only happen when I drink milk in the morning. It could be that it's just a morning thing, because my stomach has been empty for hours. I'm going to test myself this week (once I get my paycheck and am able to go buy more milk). I'm going to try buying Lactaid milk and see how that goes.

Then, later in the day, I started to eat some of the other food I had packed for myself. I still don't know if it was because of the milk in the morning, but I just couldn't finish all my food. My stomach kept hurting, and I kept getting gas and cramps throughout the day. I ended up not eating everything I was supposed to, on top of going to bed late. So today, I'm going to have to make it up. Won't be going to bed early tonight, though. Biggest Loser is on tonight!

Posole Verde Recipe!

I've been teaching myself how to cook, and yesterday I decided to try out a recipe I found on Morsels & Musings blog. It turned out pretty good for my first time making posole. I thought it was a nice, healthy meal. I followed the recipe on their site, but added a bit more vegetable stock to mine because it came out a little too "chunky", broth-wise. This recipe is delicious! I suggest everyone try it out! ;)

Introduction and Stats

On the web, I go by the alias "Midori Ko". I am 21 years old, and I am about 5 foot and an inch and a fourth or so. As of me typing this post ( I weighed myself a few minutes ago) I am at 98 lbs. Not sure what percentage of that is muscle, fat, bone, other bodily substances or fluids, but from what I can see in the mirror, my body has gotten much scrawnier since I stopped working out when I was about 14.

My Legs As of Now.

I have been skinny practically my whole life. When I was close to turning 13, I decided to gain 10 lbs., so I started eating more than I would normally eat. I am Mexican American, so my family made a lot of rice, beans, and meat. Naturally, this is what I ended up eating most of the time. It turned out perfectly because I was eating enough carbs and protein so that even though I was exercising, I wasn't losing weight due to me putting on muscle weight. I did a lot of biking on the weekends, approximately six hours combined every Saturday and Sunday. I lived in an area where the sidewalk was at slightly up-hill, so this worked out my legs magnificently. I had lovely "runner" things when I started 7th grade. My arms were nicely toned for my age and size (a little less than 5 feet at the time), but I was stronger than most of my peers. So strong that I was the only person in my class (boys included!!) who could complete the obstacle course during P.E.

So with my biking and the "exercises" that I would do on the playground (pull-ups on the monkey bars and climbing the jungle gym), and whatever sport we did in P.E. (football, track, soccer, basketball) during that year I gained the ten pounds I wanted and went from about 87 lbs. to the 98 lbs. that I kept until I was 14.

After turning 14, and due to natural expectations, I began to notice that my breasts were not growing as fast as some of my friends and family members, so I decided to cut back on the exercising, and completely cut out any biking, and did minimal running, although I played other sports from time to time. As the year progressed, problems arose in my family that caused me to become depressed, and from then on I went to gradually lose all the weight I gained when I was 13, and more. By the time I was a senior in high school, I was down to 87 lbs.!

Arm Muscles Are Virtually Gone Now. :(

I couldn't sleep at night, stayed awake until 3 a.m. at most sometimes, and thus I started this cycle of sacrificing breakfast for sleep. During the day I lost interest in the athletic activities I used to enjoy, including biking, and I lost much of my appetite, eating things like fries and burgers and chips to make myself feel better, instead of the good stuff I was used to eating. All my muscle disappeared! So now, I'm on a personal mission to get back that which I lost from those years. Jeez, I haven't worked out in 6 freaking years... ugh, I felt like I've let myself go in a way! I now have a goal to weigh 115 - 120 or so. If you'd like to join me on my journey or at least follow my progress, please bookmark my blog and leave me some encouraging words! :) More updates coming soon!
